I’ll probably come off sounding like a fanboy, but my 1-series rides better than any other car I’ve ever driven and the steering is intuitive, direct, and perfectly weighted. They must be doing something right.
(It could definitely stand to lose 500 lbs, though.)

You have a positive opinion about your own car?! You’re bad and you should feel bad.

I was helping a friend change a flat on his B5 S4 and then learned that the steering rack was on top of the transmission and behind the motor. I hope he doesn't have to change it.

Cha nged the fron CV on an early 2000 Audi wagon and the 2 ball joints on the top of the hub struck a chord back to those bad memories

Still doesn't handle better than a rusty old Miata though.

I think that’s the idea, it works really well
. Until it breaks and you can’t find a place that will fix it. Or you can’t get it fixed for less than 2k. Or you get it fixed and it is never quite right and you give up after 3 trips to the shop because you can’t bring yourself to spend any more on the issue much less bite the bullet and go to the dealer and commit to a much larger bill.
